NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Buffalo Bills have finalized a deal with Dan Carpenter, according to a source informed of the deal. The Bills acted quickly after in-house kicker Dustin Hopkins suffered an injury during Monday's practice.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for Carpenter, who's been released three times (by the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals and New York Jets) since Aug. 16. As if times haven't been tumultuous enough, Carpenter's wife gave birth to their first child, a boy named Colby, on Aug. 19.

Carpenter and the similarly well-traveled Billy Cundiff were supposed to work out for the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday.
