Mariano Rivera went to the hospital Monday to make a decision on which doctor would perform his ACL surgery. He wound up getting a lot more than he bargained for. A blood clot was discovered in Rivera’s right calf, prompting doctors to keep him in the hospital overnight while he was treated with blood thinners. The blood clot didn’t interfere with the timetable for Rivera’s impending ACL surgery, but doctors want him to strengthen his knee and get full range of motion before the operation, which will make his rehab easier. Rivera doesn’t know whether the blood clot was there before he suffered his knee injury last Thursday, as he hadn’t experienced any pain or soreness in his calf prior to this week. Still, the closer acknowledged that the clot wouldn’t have been found if not for the ACL tear. Source:NY Daily News
I hate the Yankees with a passion. HATE. But I'm glad that they discovered this. This is something that could kill a person. I think if they amputated his leg he'd still throw a 90 MPH cutter. Man is NOT human.
