Former Blackhawks star Probert dies at 45 Former Blackhawks forward Bob Probert died Monday after collapsing on a boat. He was 45. Family friend Rich Rogow said Probert was on a boat in Lake St. Clair with his wife, children and in-laws when he "developed severe chest pains" Monday. Rogow said Probert's father-in-law gave him CPR. Probert later died at Ontario's Windsor Regional Medical Center, where Rogow spoke at an evening news conference. A notorious brawler, Probert also was a skilled player who made the 1988 NHL All-Star Game. Probert also battled alcohol and substance-abuse issues and sent time in an NHL-supervised treatment center. Wow, sad to hear. He was one of my all time fav's. I remember buying a VHS tape of his all-time best fights back in the day and that got me hooked. The Bruise Brothers (Probert & Joey Kocur) were as intimidating as any other bunch in the league.
