Boston Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz, who has a strained trapezius muscle in his neck, was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 9. Buchholz threw a bullpen session before Tuesday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays, but apparently did not show sufficient progress to clear him to start this weekend. "We didn't feel like we had enough time to give him the proper amount of work to prepare for that start," Boston manager John Farrell said. "We didn't want to take any chances." Buchholz will not be eligible to pitch until June 25, when the Sox play the Colorado Rockies in Fenway Park. Source: ESPN Boston
