Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Vikings coach Brad Childress said today that he's moving forward without Brett Favre and that he's "more than content" with having Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels compete for the starting quarterback job. Childress' comments came one day after Favre told the Vikings that he wasn't going to end his retirement to play for the team and on the same day players began to arrive in Mankato for the opening of training camp. Asked if there was still a chance that Favre could change his mind and wind up playing for the Vikings, Childress said: "You know what, there's not a chance from my standpoint. I'm going forward with the guys that we have. We'll have a great competition, we'll have a great camp and be a good football team one way or the other. [That] is what I told Brett, [That] is what I told our team."

That's what I was thinking. The Brett Favre retirement thing isn't going to end for awhile.
