Left tackle Branden Albert has reportedly accepted the Chiefs’ one-year contract offer worth about $9.83 million, according to USA Today. The Chiefs were obligated to make the offer to Albert when they designated him as their franchise player last month. Albert, a first-round draft pick of the Chiefs in 2008, has developed into one of the league’s better left tackles. The Chiefs weren’t able to make much progress with Albert on a long-term contract before the start of the free agency period, but they were able to effectively keep him off the free-agent market by designating him as their franchise player. By accepting the offer, Albert would guarantee that he would be in training camp on time. Source: Kansas City Star
