According to Burt Hubbuch of the New York Post, officials with the Associated Press indicate that based on early voting, it would not be a surprise if Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing retained his 2009 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. Voting results will be announced on Wednesday. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle explained on Twitter why he voted for Cushing the second time around "I voted Cushing defensive rookie of the year the first time. I had no problem doing it again. I saw every practice and play of every game," McClain tweeted. "Cushing tested positive in Sept but passed every random test since. I voted Kevin Williams first team, so why wouldn't I vote for Cushing? I voted for Peppers as defensive rookie of the year in '02. We all knew he'd been suspended for violating the same policy. I do think Cushing should man up and tell us what he tested positive for. I've heard three different substances from 3 different sources. I've never seen anybody practice harder than Cushing," McClain said. "When he was injured, he still kept his head in the huddle and didn't skip a beat."
