Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has had his share of critics throughout the last four months or so, but a new one emerged today: Brady Quinn, the man who served as his backup toward the end of last season. “Early in the season, there was a game when Kyle [Orton] got hurt and the coaches were calling for me to go in, but Kyle got up and finished the game out,†Quinn said in the latest issue of GQ. “So I was the second-string guy. Then, a few weeks later, they decided to put Tim in. I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just ’cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I didn’t have any billboards. That would have been nice.†Tebow stepped in as the Broncos’ starter in Week 7, right after the bye; he proceeded to win seven of his first eight starts before fading at the end of the regular season. Tebowmania was then revived with a dramatic overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the playoffs — the young quarterback through an 80-yard game-winning touchdown to knock out the defending AFC champs. Quinn wasn’t impressed. “The entire game, the defensive line is chasing the quarterback around, and that wears down the pass rush,†he said. “Meanwhile, the defensive backs are chasing receivers, but you only throw eight passes, so they start to feel lazy. It only takes that one play, that one big pass, for a touchdown.†Source: Sports Illustrated
You had your Billboards Brady........ And look where it got you Thats the problem with guys like you and Leinart. 4th round talents that a coach made look like a first round QB at a big program. Your too used to being pampered to ever put the work in
He's right that the fans had a lot to do with Tebow being put in, and he probably could have won a lot of those games that the defense (I mean Tebow) won. I don't see him beating Pittsburgh in the playoffs though.
Brady Quinn, still crying... isn't this the same guy that was whining before he got drafted because Jamarcus Russel was getting talked about more then him? Isn't this the same guy who couldn't beat out Derek Anderson? Isn't this the same guy that Charlie Weis made look good? I hate Brady Quinn, he had his shot and did nothing.
Claussen could still be a good starting QB. He was a much better pure passer then Quinn was. Quinn supposed strengths were his ability to read defense's. He was supposed to be a cerebral QB Claussen really didnt get his fair shake in Carolina Also, as far as "busts" there could never be a comparison, because Claussen was a 2nd round pick
I just saw a thing about it on Mike and Mike and Brady Quinn has a statement saying that basically this story is BS and doesn't represent the way he feels about Tebow. The author of the article came out and pretty much said the same thing, and that he would be writing a Yahoo article that better represents Quinn's feelings towards Tebow. This interview was done 3 months ago.
I said that in another thread, both Mike Silver (the author) and BQ have admitted that he did say all that negative crap, but he also said a lot of positive stuff that wasn't included in the interview. Which is just bullcrap.
it's not like it's abnormal for the media to do that they always twist words or whatever they need for a better story.
I knowthis which is why it pisses me off that the world is going crazy on Brady for this story without knowing the facts.
It will be interesting to see if tebow gets better in the offseason watch him come out next year and throw better
Sure makes Mike Silver sound like the butthole, writing the story then being all, "that's not what he meant." Try actually editing your own freaking work, reading it, and seeing if it makes sense. Dumbcrap.
