Broncos head coach John Fox was released from a Charlotte-area hospital on Friday four days after undergoing successful aortic heart valve replacement surgery according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

In a statement released by the team on Friday, Fox thanked the doctors and the encouragement he received from his family, friends and all Denver Broncos fans. "My recovery is progressing well - I am feeling better and getting stronger each day," Fox said in the statement. "I will begin the next phase of my recovery in Charlotte and continue outpatient appointments with doctors, who will clear me to return to Denver when the time is right."

SteveRobWhatever's Take: Jack Del Rio will replace Fox while he recovers from his surgery. Close call for Fox, who will no doubt be working his butt off to get back on the field with the team. The 7-1 Broncos travel to take on the San Diego Chargers in Week 10.
