Two reports say Von Miller's suspension was not triggered by a positive drug test, which could at least change the perception of Denver Broncos linebacker and his four-game suspension, which is being appealed.

The Denver Post and USA Today both cited sources saying he did not test positive for performance-enhancing or recreational drugs. The Post had previously reported that he tested positive for marijuana as a rookie in 2011, which put him in the NFL's drug program. That means many things could trigger a suspension, such as missing tests or counseling sessions.

When cornerback Champ Bailey was so defiant in defending his teammate and said he'd be surprised if Miller was suspended, perhaps he knew that part of the story.
