The hometown kid never got a chance to play for the hometown team. The Broncos released running back LenDale White this morning. White, 26, was a prep star at both Denver South and Chatfield High School before he became a standout at USC where he joined Heisman Trophy winners Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush in the same backfield. He reported to this year's training camp in good shape at 230 pounds, but regaining the necessary burst from an Achilles injury takes time. White rushed for 10 yards on four carries in the preseason opener at Dallas last Thursday. Source: Denver Post
He actually stepped in last year for Denver and didn't do half bad when called upon. He won't draw much interest though. Just a few years ago he was a hot topic.
I remember the debate several years ago whether White would be a better running back than Bush at the NFL level......turned out....neither was up to par.
Such a shame. I know the dude had hallways to run through in college, but his build and speed and running style would've done excellent in the NFL if he had any motivation.
