Broncos Would've Taken "Anything" For QB Kyle Orton At Trade Deadline

Discussion in 'Denver Broncos' started by BigBlueBruiser, Oct 21, 2011.

  1. Mike Klis of the Denver Post said on SiriusXMNFL Radio that the Broncos would've taken anything, including a conditional seventh-round pick in return for quarterback Kyle Orton at the trade deadline. It's hardly a surprise that no team stepped up to take on the roughly $5 million left on Orton's 2011 salary. He would have been tasked with learning a new offense, minimizing his impact on any team the rest of the way. An impending free agent, Orton will not be back in Denver in 2012.

I wouldn't take this to heavy if I were Orton. Only Oakland and Miami are looking for QBs, a long term solution at that, his contract ends after this season, so that would mean having to restructure if you're going to pull the trigger.

He'll find a job in 2012, because something tells me that the new staff in Jacksonville will want a solid veteran behind Gabbert

Jacksonville is a good call. Maybe Washington?

Orton would do well with a team that isn't dependent on a qb to win their games for them. A team with an established running game and a great defense. Which Denver has neither.
