Browns C Alex Mack Added To AFC Pro Bowl Squad

  1. Alex Mack, a second alternate on the AFC Pro Bowl team when the weekend began, is joining teammate Joe Thomas in Hawaii. Mack was added to the Pro Bowl roster on Monday because a leg injury is preventing Jets center Nick Mangold from participating. Steelers rookie center Maurkice Pouncey was also on the AFC’s original Pro Bowl roster, but he won’t be playing against the NFC Pro Bowl squad on Sunday, either, because the Steelers are in the Super Bowl on Feb. 6. Plus, Pouncey was injured in the first quarter Sunday when the Steelers beat the Jets in the AFC championship game. “I’m very excited to be able to go to Hawaii,†Mack said. “It’s unfortunate that Nick had to get injured for me to go, but I’m looking forward to representing the Browns. It has been a lifelong dream for me and from here on, it’s working to make many more. I’m excited to be going and I can’t wait to play in this game.†This marks the first time in 30 years two offensive linemen will represent the Browns.
