Mark Schiefelbein, a longtime front-office official for the Packers, has been named vice president of football operations by the Cleveland Browns. Schiefelbein, whose 20-year career with the Packers began in 1989 as a public-relations intern, will be reunited with Browns President Mike Holmgren. "It's a great opportunity for him," said Packers president Mark Murphy. "Obviously, there's the connection with Holmgren." Schiefelbein's departure follows by a week the decision by John Schneider, the Packers' co-director of football operations, to become general manager in Seattle. "They left for big promotions and great opportunities," said Murphy. "There's always a part of you that hates to lose good people. I also look at it from the standpoint that it's a good sign that other people are hiring your employees and putting them in positions of great responsibility." Source: Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
