The Browns have re-signed running back Brandon Jackson to a one-year deal, a league source confirmed to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer today.

The news was first reported by Albert Breer of NFL Network, and the Browns have not yet announced it.

Jackson, originally a second-round pick of the Packers in 2007, signed a two-year free agent deal with the Browns in 2011 worth $4.5 million but he suffered a toe injury during preseason and landed on injured reserve for the year.

Last season, Jackson couldn't crack the gameday lineup and was inactive for 13 games. But he was pressed into service in the season finale in Pittsburgh when Trent Richardson was inactive with an ankle injury.
