Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik Prepared To Trade Up In The Draft

Discussion in 'Tampa Bay Buccaneers' started by BigBlueBruiser, Feb 16, 2010.

  1. Speaking to Steve Duemig, of 620 WDAE-AM, on Monday evening, Bucs General Manager Mark Dominik confidently spoke of his readiness to trade up from the No. 3 overall pick to meet the team's needs. "We have the ability to go either direction," Dominik said. "We'll prepare to go either direction, which is a good option for Tampa Bay." It's hard to fathom the Bucs trading up in such a deep draft, considering they are filled with holes and trading up would likely cost them a later pick. And that depth was acknowledged by Dominik in the interview, as he said he had been targeting adding picks in 2010.

I think chances are we trade down. Less money to sign the pick and grab another pick for a later round.

Maybe they want to trade up to make sure they get Suh?

Remember the Glazers still own the team. They aren't going to pay for a #1 pick. We were $30M under the cap last year.

Didn't think about that...think they will hope he falls to them at 3 and if he doesn't move down? Or do you think they will move down either way to avoid that huge contract.

I really don't think they want to sign a top 10 pick. But, IF the rumors of the Rams taking Bradford #1 turn out to be true they may stay at 3 to get Gerald McCoy or (unlikely) Suh.

I really hope that the NFL and Players Union put in a rookie pay scale that way teams want these high picks. I guess you really can't complain with getting a choice between Suh and McCoy...although I would think most would rather have Suh.

at the worst they get eric berry....eric berry is an absolutely elite prospect, if they took gerald mccoy over berry they are freaking morons, suh is the only player that could make a case for over berry imo, and i think id still take berry

either way the bucs still need a year to rebuil imo. Eric Berry at 3 sounds good to me. these high round DT's bug me.... just not sold on it. would love to see em trade down and get a few more picks in the 2nd and 3rd round
