The Buccaneers have traded their former first-round pick defensive end Gaines Adams to the Chicago Bears. Tampa receives a second-round pick in exchange for Adams, the fourth-overall pick in the 2007 draft out of Clemson. Adams had come under fire recently for his lack of production in Tampa. Wow, did not see this coming at all..... **********Automerged Doublepost********** Just occured to me that Da Bears do not have a 1st or 2nd round pick in the 2010 draft now because they traded them away for Cutler and now for Adams. They will probably release a player from special teams to make room for Adams.

Change of scenery, maybe he wants to prove himself for his next contract, going from a team with no playoff hopes to a team that will contend for a division title...lot's of reasons.
This trade honestly came out of the blue. This has me wondering if the Bears are anticipating not being able to resign Ogunleye.
Or maybe they had no intention of resigning him. A long term contract with Adams might be cheaper than signing Ogunleye to the same terms.
Ogunleye>Adams so far but also more $$$ than Adams. Naturally you get what you pay for so who really knows why? My guess is to shore up the defense that's been lagging this season. We're giving up 3-400 yds/games latey and you can't make a living off that for too long. Honestly this whole deal just came out of the blue.....:icon_eek:
Yeah, with all the T.O. talk this week, my eyes just popped open when I saw this deal. Oh well, here to hoping Gaines Adams is productive in Chicago.
I couldn't agree more. Adams doesn't sound all that bad with 6-1/2 sacks and 10 tackles if I'm not mistaken. Maybe it's a move because we've been plagued with an abnormal amount of injuries early this season?
hopefully this will work out best for everyone.......... the bucs, adams, and the bears. sometimes this is what it takes to make things work.
I'm guessing this means Ogunleye will not be coming back. I think he is getting near the end of his string anyways.......yes he is putting up a sack numbers this season but it smells like CONTRACT YEAR to me. :icon_cheesygrin: 2nd round pick seems a little steep for a guy who might be a bust but......I don't know man. Marinelli better be able to work his magic with Adams.
i think adams will be sick....he was my top conversion guy that year just behind anthony spencer. playing next to guys like ogungleye, tommie harris, gilbert, briggs.....he could b nasty
