Bud Light Replaces Coors Light As NFL's Official Beer Sponsor

Discussion in 'NFL General Discussion' started by BigBlueBruiser, May 4, 2010.

  1. The NFL confirmed on Tuesday that Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light will replace Coors Light as the official beer of the NFL starting in the 2011 season. "The NFL is the biggest, most watched sport in North America, and we are proud for Bud Light, the world's best selling beer, to be the league's official beer sponsor," Anheuser-Busch, Inc., president Dave Peacock said in a statement. Coors had held the official sponsorship with the NFL since 2002, when it replaced Anheuser-Busch, but the company said Tuesday it was moving on after failing to reach agreement with the league. When the sponsorship begins, Bud Light will have access to use the NFL's logo and trademarks on its advertising platforms.

Unless it's Sam Adams, I don't care. I just know when I see ice or bottles on TV it's time to press fast forward. Just start watching the game 15-30 minutes late it it's more fun.

Bud has some good commercials, especially during the SB. And it's better than Coors or Miller, so cheers.

This really isn't that big a deal to MillerCoors. They actually stayed in to bid the price up and then bowed out at the last minute. Between Coors Light and Miller Lite, most teams are covered by one and/or the other (as well as some Bud) and the team sponsorships are much more valuable on a local basis than the NFL sponsorship. Coors was never allowed to use "team logos" or team names...now they'll be able to do that. It could actually turn out to be a good thing for Coors. The only thing this takes away from Coors is the ability to use "NFL" in signage and they probably won't be able to do those "coach" commercials anymore...if that went through the league in any way...

QFT!!! Miller Lite dominates the northeast and it's not close. However, Bud Light unfortunately, still rules the world. Budweiser's hurting though...hurting bad. they've fallen behind Miller Lite and Coors Light.
