The status of Peyton Manning with the Colts is absolutely up in the air, and a lot depends on the March 8 deadline for Indy to pick up his $28 million option. While there's been some chatter that the Colts and Manning's camp discussed an extension of that deadline recently, CBS Sports Charley Casserly reported on Sunday's The NFL Today that it's not the case. He also reported that the decision on Manning's option will be made by owner Jim Irsay (not the new general manager) and that there's a darkhorse possibility to land Manning if he doesn't end up back with the Colts: the Arizona Cardinals. "Jim Irsay in interviewing general manager candidates has told them he will make the decision whether Peyton Manning is back," Casserly reported Sunday. "He will not put that on the new general manager. Right now there have been absolutely no discussions according to the Manning camp between Manning and Irsay about extending that deadline. In fact, it would make no sense to me for Manning to agree to that. Why give up the opportunity to talk to other teams? One team to watch? The Arizona Cardinals. They can get out of the Kevin Kolb contract and also Ken Whisenhunt's been down this road before. A veteran quarterback coming in at the end of his career? Kurt Warner." Source: CBS Sports
I remember the Cardinals being in the running for Joe Montana before he got traded to Kansas City because Montana didn't want to play in Phoenix. Cardinals would be dangerous with Peyton hooking up with Larry Fitzgerald.
cardinals are a good fit if the colts are going to part ways with peyton. there is a team in place, good receivers, and good coaching. Depending on who the phins hire, that could also be a good fit. If the Jets didn't have Rex, the Jets would actually be the best fit because they are literally just a QB away from being absolutely dominant but I just can't see Peyton wanting to play for Rex.
I brought this up recently too, makes a ton of sense, and they can cut Kolb relatively cheap, I heard.
The Kevin Kolb experiment is over down here. After Skelton went 7-2 the last 9 games to save Kolb's 1-6 start it was evident that Kolb was really slow to learn the system. Unlike years past, the Bidwell's will spend the bucks to keep the 65-game sellout streak alive. Cards would have to make another WR priority as well cause the Fitz was 2x and 3x teamed all season.
Manning should come to Miami, the have a better core of players and both Manning and Miami start with the letter m.
Miami would be a good spot. If Manning is healthy and the Colts want to get rid of him and if Manning's only goal is to win another Super Bowl and he needs to get it done in the next 2 or 3 years, here are his best chances of the 8 teams that need a QB the most (but this list is subject to changed based upon coaching/roster changes and a sleeper team jumping in the sweepstakes -- San Fran, Dallas, etc.) 1. Jets 2. Dolphins 3. Cardinals 4. Seahawks 5. Titans 6. Chiefs 7. Redskins 8. Jaguars
