Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Ricky Lumpkin was fined $21,000 Friday for a hit that injured Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Leinart in a 31-27 preseason win by the Cardinals last Friday according to NFL.com. Lumpkin inflicted a late hit on Leinart in the third quarter and earned a personal foul on the play. Leinart had to be carted into the locker room with an injury to his right (non-throwing) hand and received two stitches. Source: The Redzone
Like you, Hux, him being penalized for that hit is pure BS. Yeah, I'm a Cards fanm but defineitely no homer as evidenced by my avatar, sig, etc. I guess Goodell wants to start fattening the wallet in preparation of paying thru the butt for all the lawsuits the NFL is and will be involved in.
How much do players make during the pre-season? Do they make a portion of their contract or do they make next to nothing (comparatively speaking)? 21k could be a big chunk of his weekly earnings.
This seems to be the penalty that the replacements are freaking up the most on. Saw two crapty roughing the passer/late hit calls in the Seahawks game, too.
May be true, but all in all, the officiating was better than the game. Chiefs gonna have a long season. I know, it's preseason, but game 3 especially the supposed starters play the most.
