Authorities say NFL linebacker Joey Porter has been arrested in Bakersfield on suspicion of drunken driving and accused of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. The California Highway Patrol says the 33-year-old player was confronted by officers early Saturday in a fast-food parking lot and Porter refused to provide his driver's license then he began to roll up his window when asked to leave the car. Police say that when an officer reached to unlock the door Porter slapped the officer's hand before eventually getting out and compiling with orders, placing his hands behind his back.

He didn't waste time in resorting to his old ways....Cards gotta hate the decision now, right?

What counts as reasonable suspicion of drunken driving if he's sitting in a parked car?

And I'll bet dollars to donuts that he didn't slap the cops hand.

I'm glad that we, in essence, traded Porter for Dansby :icon_cheesygrin:

well if he's in the parking lot he had to get there by driving, there's the reasonable.

The Cops in California are corrupt! Even if Joey Porter didn't do anything - he'll have to face some sort of Jail time. The Cardinals better VOiD that contract while they still can because Joey is DONE!

His first mistake...who the hell lives in Bakersfield? The armpit of California?

Racist cops, redneck oil field workers, that place is like the twilight zone version of hell!

The prim and proper Bidwills have to be going through the roof with this development.

Resisting arrest? Wow! Not a great idea. Great to see you were using your head Porter. Heres a two thumbs up.

Well, I guess 'overpaid' is in the eye of the beholder.

Compare the stats over Dansby's career (6 seasons) vs Porter's career (11 seasons) and you'll notice quite a few differences.

    SOLO TACKLES
    Dansby - 445 (650 prorated over 11 seasons)
    Porter - 465

    TOTAL TACKLES
    Dansby - 559 (816 prorated over 11 seasons)
    Porter - 621

    SACKS
    Dansby - 25.5 (37.5 prorated over 11 seasons)
    Porter - 92.0

    INTERCEPTIONS
    Dansby - 10 (15 prorated over 11 seasons)
    Porter - 12

    FORCED FUMBLES
    Dansby - 12 (18 prorated over 11 seasons)
    Porter - 25

    PBUTTES DEFLECTED
    Dansby - 30 (44 prorated over 11 seasons)
    Porter - 49

So, for the Fins, we need some help with tackling and stuffing the run. Dansby is far superior to Porter in those statistical categories. Porter is a pass-rushing specialist and we already have Cameron Wake (younger, quicker but less experienced) who is supposed to take the next step. So, I'm VERY excited about the move and I don't care what we paid for him. $9.6 million per year for Dansby will be a better investment than $5.0 million per year for Porter at this stage in his career, IMO.
