Cardinals starting tight end Rob Housler will not play in Sunday's season opener at St. Louis due to a high ankle sprain the third-year pro sustained during the preseason.

With veteran Jeff King out for the season with a knee injury, the Cardinals have only Jim Dray, Kory Sperry and rookie seventh-round pick D.C. Jefferson available at tight end for Sunday's matchup against the Rams.

Defensive end Calais Campbell is the only Cardinal whose status is uncertain for Week 1. The 6-foot-8 lineman did not practice Friday because of a sore quadriceps and is listed as questionable.

Running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee), wide receiver Andre Roberts (quadriceps) and nose tackle Dan Williams (ankle) are among those probable to play in the opener.
