ST. LOUIS (AP)The St. Louis Cardinals addressed one of their major offseason concerns, acquiring shortstop Khalil Greene from the Padres. The trade announced Thursday sent minor league pitchers Mark Worrell and a prospect to be named to San Diego. Neither of the prospects were on the 40-man roster. Source: AP
I'm wondering which Green we're getting though....the 2007 version when he hit 27 HR's or last years disaster? Either way I guess it's an improvement over Izturis who couldn't hit a lick or drive in a run to save his life. Green plays outstanding defense, I guess the offense is a bonus.
Greene was terrible last season. But hes a good player and I think a change of scenery will be good for him. Cardinals are a top team in the National League and he should do well as an everyday player. Good move for the Cardinals.
