The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Chargers RB Mike Tolbert will sign his tender offer Friday afternoon, and he and the Chargers could well begin negotiations on a long-term deal at some point this season. Tolbert has consistently progressed in his three years since coming out of Coastal Carolina. Primarily a fullback in his first two season, Tolbert was the Chargers’ leading rusher (182 carries, 735 yards, 11 touchdowns) in 2010 as rookie Ryan Mathews was limited by injury. Mathews is expected to be the primary tailback in 2011, but head coach Norv Turner said near the end of last season he has become a believer in the two-back system. Source: CBS Sports
