Chargers Upset About Self Destructing Against The Jets

Discussion in 'San Diego Chargers' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jan 17, 2010.

  1. The Chargers came in with an NFL-longest 11-game winning streak but commenced to self-destruct with one blunder after another in their 17-14 playoff loss to the Jets. The Chargers had much to explain after 10 penalties for 87 yards, three missed field goals, two interceptions and giving up 128 yards rushing to the Jets. "We did make some mistakes (during the win streak), but when you overcome them, people forget about 'em," quarterback Philip Rivers said. "When you don't, they cost you." The reality was a defeat that had Murphy's Law written all over it for the heavily favored Chargers, eliminated in the type of playoff-opening setback that cost former coach Marty Schottenheimer his job. "We haven't played like this all year," said Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who gained 24 yards on 12 rushes. "Maybe it was because of their defense. It took us out of our rhythm and made us press a bit."

i had alot of confidence the chargers would win but deep down i had a feeling the jets would pull off the upset. If anything they should be angry at Kaeding missing 3 FG.

The San Diego Chargers have done it again... What a disgrace to the AFC West.
I'm not about to sit up here and say "The Raiders" will win the West in 2010 but the Chargers certainly won't. That team is DONE!

There's just no excuse for the Chargers to lose to the Jets. The Jets are a decent team, but the Chargers were arguably the best team coming into the playoffs.

After some loses, you can start to look at the things to build upon for next season. In the Chargers case, can they really get any better? Not really.

In short -- this was a disasterous loss and some heads should probably roll for this happening.

The Chargers simply lost to a team that had a lot of confidence and is playing great D right now. Revis is making it hard on anyone to beat them with the way he shuts down half of the field. I told my buddies that the Chargers should win, but if the Jets could keep it close going into the 4th quarter that they could pull off an upset and they did. Kudos to them for a big win and an upset victory. Chargers didn't self destruct. They just lost to a tough team. They'll be fine for next season as long as they have a productive off season.
