Excitement is building in Kansas City with the Chiefs off to a 3-0 start in their first year under coach Andy Reid but not everything is rosy. Cornerback Brandon Flowers, one of the team's best defensive players, is still dealing with knee inflammation according to Adam Teicher of ESPN. The condition forced Flowers out of last Thursday's otherwise jubilant victory over Reid's former team the Philadelphia Eagles.

“It’s a day-to-day thing,†Reid said. “It’s just a matter of him getting through it. He’s trying. The kid is so stinking tough. We want to make sure it’s right and he can function out there at the speed he functions at. He plays that position where you’ve got to go. You’re going against guys that can really go. He wants to be out there. It’s ripping his heart out that he’s not.â€

Flowers was unable to practice with the team Monday due to the knee issue and will likely be a game-time decision again in the Week 4 tilt against the struggling New York Giants. The Chiefs are back at work earlier than other teams around the league because they played last Thursday night, leaving Flowers plenty of time to move in the right direction before a decision has to be made.
