When the Chiefs reconvened Monday after their bye week, coach Andy Reid didn’t have to say a word or warn his team about hazing in the locker room. Aside from rookies carrying veterans shoulder pads up the hill at training camp, the Chiefs have a no-hazing policy. “We’re not a hazing team, we don’t encourage that,†Reid said in his first comments to reporters since the Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin saga in Miami became national news last week. “That’s just not how we operate.†Source: KansasCity.com markaz's Take: Time to dig through the internet and find the positions of every team on the topic of hazing. This is something that's been passed down through the Walsh tree, he likely got it from Holmgren who certainly got it from Walsh. Walsh was always very adamant about not allowing "hazing" or harassment in the locker room, I remember a quote from him saying something to the effect of rookies had been through enough to make it into the league, there's no reason to make it any more difficult for them to succeed than it already is. I'll see if I can find the actual quote, but I'd have to say that policy worked out pretty damn good. There weren't many, if any, who had more success through the draft than he.
