Chiefs coach Todd Haley revealed that his signal caller, Matt Cassel, will likely need surgery for an injury he sustained to his throwing hand in Sunday's loss to the Broncos. Haley did not specify the nature of Cassel's problem or definitively say if he'll go on IR. "The length of it, we're not sure, but there's some optimism. Each person it varies, but it's a difficult injury," said Haley. Tyler Palko will make his first NFL start in Week 11 vs. the Patriots with rookie Ricky Stanzi backing him up. If Cassel is lost to the defending AFC West champs, he'll join S Eric Berry, RB Jamaal Charles and TE Tony Moeaki among those Kansas City has lost to season-ending injuries in 2011.
