Charles ran for 86 yards and a touchdown, Alex Smith also ran for a score and the scrappy Chiefs held off the banged-up Houston Texans 17-16 on Sunday to remain unbeaten. Keenum, making his first NFL start in place of the injured Matt Schaub, threw for 271 yards and a touchdown for the Texans (2-4). Source: ESPN DaBears22's Take: Keenum did not have a bad stat line in his debut, threw no interceptions or pick 6s. Losing Foster certainly hurt the Texans. Gotta give credit to the Chiefs' defense.
Still not seeing this as being a seriously contending team despite the record. They should have trounced the crap out of a reeling Texans team, starting their 3rd string QB and missing their all world running back. Do you think any of the other " top" teams wouldn't have? Their current record and remaining schedule pretty much make them a playoff lock at this point, but when they come off their bye we are going to really see if they belong there. @Denver/San Diego/Denver in consecutive weeks, then @Redskins, @Oakland (don't sleep on that game as being an easy one), Indy, and @San Diego. That run is going to define their year.
i agree with this. They are probably the 3rd or 4th best team in the afc and if they don't make it very far in January, it will be because of their offense. Their oline is below average, their receivers are below average and their qb is not the type that can single handedly win a game.
They are pretty much ride or die with Charles right now, you take him out of the equation and this is a very inadequate offense...considering his past history with injuries and currently huge workload, they are going to be extremely lucky to make it through the season with him alive. They're definitely walking the razors edge. I see a lot of the 2011 49ers in this team, I think Reid really took a lot of pages out of the "How to succeed with Alex Smith under center" handbook that Harbaugh made that year, rather than trying to carry over what he had been doing for so long in Philly. Let the defense do the heavy lifting, hammer it with the run, and play it efficient and safe (albeit uninspiring and limited) with the pass game. It's effective if you have the right pieces, which they do, and can definitely win some games, which they have done, but it's not likely to put any Lombardis in their case. inb4 "LOL WHAT ABOUT THE SAINTS PLAYOFF GAME YOU MORON LOL SMITH>KAEP"
