From the department of "Be Careful What You Wish For," Matt Cassel is preparing for a season as a starting quarterback for the first time since his senior year at Chatsworth (Calif.) High School. "You sit around for a long time and hope your opportunity comes," he says. It arrived for Cassel in the form of an offseason trade that sent him from the riches of the New England Patriots t o the rubble of the Kansas City Chiefs and he goes from a team loaded with offensive weapons to a club in transition with the arrival of general manager Scott Pioli and coach Todd Haley, a management tandem from the Bill Parcells tree. In New England, Cassel was asked to mostly manage the game and did it well, winning 10 games and throwing for nearly 3,700 yards in his 15 starts in place of injured Tom Brady last season but with the Chiefs, Cassel will be asked to win games with far fewer resources.

Weren't the Pats 11-5 not 10-6? Or does Brady playing for 7 minutes count again Cassel?

    I believe in Matt Cassel.

If we even win 3 games this year, it's an improvement over last year...:icon_eek: Most Chiefs fans are just feeling a lot more optimistic with the firings of Peterson and Edwards...myself included. :icon_cool:

They stated that he won 10 games in his starts. So I guess they counted those 7 minutes against him.

He got sacked like 48 times and stayed pretty healthy right?

That's more than we can say about any of the other QB's on the roster last year.

And as tammie said, we still got Thigpen!!!

I do not see Cassell being judged in KC by the win and loss record. I think he will be judged more on timely interceptions and his game management. By judging him solely on stats is not fair since his weapons are jv compared to NE weapons. KC fans know this is a rebuilding time for their team. Both Missouri team fans realize this but thats off the subject. Anyways I see fans and executives of the Chiefs basing their final opinion on how he manages the team, gets along with coaching staff and teammates, and how often he can avoid losing the game in the air. If he can accomplish these things I think his first year in KC will be viewed a success

I'm not really worried about the fans in KC.

It's the fans of other teams that can't wait to yell "Told you so!!!" if he has poor performances because of our O line.

Hopefully someone really breaks out and leads them early this year.

Who cares about other fans and their I Told You So's. I know I dont, well really cant being a Rams fan, but thats not the point. Your team traded for him, so his play doesnt effect any team but yours. The people that have to throw things like that in your teams fans faces are small and petty. It was a good trade for your team at the time it was made. Remember its always easier to look back in hindsight and say whether it was truely good for your team or not, but at this time a 2nd rounder for a QB who looks as calm in the pocket as he does, looks like a steal.

It is a rebuilding season yada yada... we know that, but I want to win! I want them to make my day! Particularly SUNDAYS! :cele18: I have faith that it will happen and if Cassel does it he does it! Just do the job!
