Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said he meant no disrespect for quarterback Matt Cassel when Haley refused to say whether he thought Cassel was the best quarterback in training camp. Between committing turnovers and being off-target with some throws, Cassel hasn’t played particularly well during camp. On some days he has been outplayed by Brodie Croyle. “This is a full-time evaluation,†Haley said. “It’s everything that’s going on. You have game situations in which one quarterback’s situation may have been a little different than another’s. The plays called may have been different. There are a lot of things that go into the equation, (so) I don’t think it’s fair (to) any of those guys to answer that question. It had nothing to do with my feelings towards anybody. (Cassel is) working hard. He’s into it. He cares about it. This is training camp. We’re trying to evaluate a lot of guys, a lot of different receivers, running backs, tight ends, line, the whole deal.†Source: Kansas City Star
I don't see there being any QB controversy for the starting job. Cassel is gonna start, you don't pay someone that much money to ride the bench. I'm more interested in who the back ups are gonna be.
if croyle out plays him, croyle should start but you're right HH they paid matt and he is gonna start
Croyle has chemistry with these guys. He should look better with them. Give Cassel time and he will hit his stride with them too.
The good news here is Croyle is looking good and we know Thigpen can hold his own so we should have decent QB play all year. Now they can focus on getting the rest of the team pulled together.
I hope they aren't planning to cut or trade Thigpen...rumors say they are...I'm glad Croyle hasn't been injured yet...but at the same time, I don't believe he's the best QB on our roster...and there shouldn't even be any controversy.
