Multiple Chiefs personnel sources tell Nick Wright of 610 Kansas City that general manager Scott Pioli was prepared to fire coach Todd Haley had the team lost last week. The Chiefs' furious second-half comeback against Indianapolis saved Haley's job for one week, but it sounds like he's going to be on the hot seat the rest of the way. Defensive coordinator and ex-Browns head coach Romeo Crennel would be a candidate to take over in-season. Source: Nick Wright: Twitter.com
When the source of a story is a tweet from a sports talk radio host... I take it with a grain of salt.
It's the same source that broke the story of the Jonathan Baldwin-Thomas Jones locker room scuffle. He was also spot on the extent of the injury. Combine that with the tensions between Haley and GM Scott Pioli.......it's more believable than you think.
That tension was there before the season started. That goes back to Pioli wanting to bring McDaniels in as OC.
It's true, but the people in KC hate Nick Wright. He always throws random scenarios out there and once in awhile, he gets a story that turns out correct. I highly doubt that this one is true, but if the Chiefs get annihilated 89-10 over a two game stretch again, then I guess we'll see.
You think Pioli was going to just sit on his hands if they lost to the then Manning-less 0-4 Colts? That would've dropped them to 1-4 on the year. And you don't think Pioli wouldn't be comfortable naming Crennel the interim head coach had he canned Haley? They won three Super Bowls in New England and have a lot more history together. Pioli denied this report and it's natural that he did. They won the game.
I'm with Three 7's...I don't believe this story for a minute....lmao @ Romeo as HC material :icon_cheesygrin:...yeah, we saw how well that works out....no thanks. :icon_rolleyes: I like Haley....I think he'll be around longer than you all think.
