The Kansas City Chiefs will have their best wide receiver on the field for Sunday's crucial division matchup against the Denver Broncos. Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe will start despite being arrested on a charges of speeding and marijuana possession over the weekend, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, citing a team source. ESPN.com first reported the news. Source: NFL.com markaz's Take: Personally, only Bowe's $56 million contract says he should be the Chiefs best WR. In reality, Donny Avery is probably the best the Chiefs have. That said, although what Bowe did was incredibly selfish and probably has his teammates wondering WTF is going on with this guy, there's no reason to penalize the entire team any more than necessary by keeping Bowe on the bench.
the chiefs can't be happy that they just gave this guy a $56 mill contract earlier this year with $26 mill guaranteed and he has reverted back to the same 'ol crap. i'm sure the cba won't allow it, but teams really should have something in these contracts that they are null and void when players do crap like this.
CBA also leaves substance abuse discipline up to the league, meaning they couldn't bench him as a result of this incident if they wanted to. They'd have to argue it was for another reason, which would obviously be a stretch.
