WWE Superstar CM Punk has reached a new milestone during his reign as WWE Champion. As the ball dropped on New Year's Day this morning, CM Punk became the first wrestler to hold the WWE Championship for a calendar year, beginning January 1st and ending on December 31st. The last man to accomplish this was Hulk Hogan, who held the WWF Championship without interruption through the entirety of 1985, 1986 and 1987. Source: Wrestlezone
Hell of a feat considering how often that titles generally change hands these days. Imagine he gets through all of 2013 with it. He'll be lucky to make it to February with it but that'd be freaking AWESOME!
Having the Rock come off the street and take the title off him at the Rumble just doesn't seem right. Why build the belt up with a long reign to have a part timer come in and take it on a whim? I sure hope they find a way around that problem.
So Vince can put Punk and Heyman in their place. It's the ultimate "heck you, I know this business more than you." Vince is a spiteful pr**k.
I know, it sucks that Vince gets his ego trips in the way of good business. It's funny how some of his most over acts aren't homegrown WWE talent and are indy legends.
Almost all of Vince's "over" guys are indy guys. He stole Hogan, HBK, Austin, Jericho, Scott Hall(Razor Ramon), Mr Perfect. The list goes on and on. They were all stars on other shows/promotions when Vince brought them in. Honestly, the only home grown star I can think of is the Rock and he got lucky there. Next Monday the Rock will be on TV. Most likely intervening in the Punk/Ryback match after the Shield interferes.

the new cm punk, best in the world dvd is awesome! he does'nt drink, take illegal drugs,or eat meat either! Great dvd set! but i still hate paul hayman!
For such an epic run it really hasnt felt special. In 90% of the defenses at PPVs he defended the title before the last match. The WWE title should always close the show. For most of the year the WWE title was considered an afterthought and it made this reign just seem not worth much and I love CM Punk he has been a hell of a champion but the way the WWE has treated it up until lately has been terrible.
Correct me if I'm wrong misfitz but has he won ANY matches clean at PPV's? I'm fairly certain most, if not all his 2012 Pay Per View matches he's had help winning. That or it's been buried in the card.
Royal Rumble(2nd to last match on the card) Beat Ziggler clean Royal Rumble was the main event Elimination Chamber(Opened the show) Survived the Chamber John Cena vs Kane was the main event Wrestlemania(2nd to last match on the card) Beat Jericho clean Rock vs John Cena was the main event Extreme Rules(3rd to last match on the card) Beat Jericho in Chicago Street Fight Brock Lesnar vs John Cena was the main event Money in the Bank(Middle of the card) Beat Daniel Bryan in a No DQ match with AJ as special referee Main Event was the MITB Ladder Match featuring John Cena SummerSlam(2nd to last match on the card) Beat Big Show and John Cena Brock Lesnar vs HHH was the main event Over the Limit(3rd to last match on the card) Beat Daniel Bryan(disputed finish) John Laurinaltis vs John Cena was the main event) Night of Champions(WAS THE MAIN EVENT!) Ended in a Draw with John Cena(disputed finish) Hell in a Cell(Main Event) Ended with Brad Maddox low blowing Ryback for CM Punk to retain(cheating finish) Survivor Series(Main Event) Shield Attacked Ryback and CM Punk pinned John Cena(cheating finish) TLC Match(Injured) Main event was John Cena vs Ziggler for the MITB contract No Way Out(3rd to last match) Beat Kane and Daniel Bryan John Cena vs Big Show was the Main Event 3 main events over the course of the year is pretty freaking terrible. Only 1 of those did not include John Cena Meanwhile John Cena was in the PPV Main Event 10 times
Ok I don't watch wrestling anymore, but just reading through that list makes me sick of John Cena already.
That is most of the problem they over expose John Cena and than wonder why they dont have any draws. I don't know why they dont put Cena on earlier they already have your PPV buy why not do so Main Event Star Building.
Back when I watched, the wwe title was always the last match. It didn't matter who came back from making a movie or what the heck ever. The title was the main event. No 1 man should be bigger than the show. I can tell just from what I see around the internet and on commercials that they are completely riding Cena's popularity to desperately get ratings.
