Coach Gary Kubiak continued his defense of Matt Schaub the day after the Texans were eliminated in the divisional round of the playoffs for the second consecutive year. In Sunday’s 41-28 loss at New England, Schaub was 34-of-51 for 343 yards and two touchdowns. He threw one interception and was sacked once when the ball slipped out of his hand. “I believe in Matt,†Kubiak said at his last Monday news conference of the season. “I have no doubts about him. He’s our quarterback. The team has to get better for us to take the next step.†Kubiak and general manager Rick Smith met with their players today. “I met with them briefly,†Kubiak said. “You tell them how you felt about the way they played and what you expect of them. I’ll also call them in a couple of weeks when I’ve had time to digest everything better.†Source: Houston Chronicle
Its about time they brought in a young guy to start learning the system. Schaub is getting old and i'm not sure he can win you a super bowl.
Jihad Joe I really don't know anything about Yates. Is he a legitimate replacement or just a backup?
Hard to say because he was a rookie in 2011 and played like a bus driver, but he looked fairly legit Sent from my HTC Vivid
They drafted Yates because he played in a similar system in college, but I still think he is too raw to be a starter. I think Schaub got too gun shy towards the end of the season.
of course kubiak is going to support schaub ................ he's still the best qb on their roster currently. that doesn't mean they aren't thinking about improving the position in the draft ................. and maybe they should.
