Michael Vick looked pretty impressive in Philadelphia’s Week 1 win over Washington, but what would the 49ers' Colin Kaepernick look like running the Eagles offense? According to a recent report from Adam Schefter, we were pretty close to finding out. From Schefter: In the weeks leading up to the 2012 draft, the Eagles came close to trading a second-round draft pick to the 49ers for Kaepernick, league sources tell ESPN. The 49ers were open to trading him because Alex Smith just had led them to the NFC Championship Game and they weren't sure what to do with their now-starting quarterback. Source: Philly.com
Lol I dont belive that crap for one hot second. Kaep was Harbaughs pet project and Alex's eventual replacement since before he was drafted, no way they would have considered trading him that soon, with a year of "schooling" and grooming under his belt, for less than they drafted him for. The Eagles might have OFFERED the trade, but no way it was ever given an iota of consideration by Harbaalke.
I find it hard to believe that Harbaugh thought highly enough to draft him early in the 2nd round only to want to trade him a year later for a mid 2nd rounder.
Yeah but Alex Smith had done such an incredibly mediocre job of getting to the NFCG that Harbaugh must have been certain Kaepernick would always be second fiddle. There's nothing that Kaep can do that Alex can't do twice as well, so might as well trade Kaep after a year, below his original draft position, before he's had any significant game reps, before his value plummets through the floor, because nobody could ever be good enough to rise above the level of play of ALEX SMITH, GREATEST OF ALL TIME.
Alex Smith and Captain Jim were never on the same page. CK was safe in San Fran and Alex was always more apt to being traded. Besides, Marcus Mariotta is the future Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, DUH!
Both Andy Reid and Howie Roseman were asked about this, and neither denied it. They didn't confirm it either, but it leads me to believe it's true. Damn it!!!!
