Hurting at wide receiver with Pierre Garcon and Anthony Gonzalez dealing with injuries this season, the Indianapolis Colts tried to land wide receiver Devin Thomas off waivers from the Washington Redskins. According to a league source with knowledge of the situation, the Colts put in a waiver claim for Thomas. However, Thomas wound up being awarded to the Carolina Panthers. The former second-round draft pick from Michigan State should beneft from the change in scenery.

Not that that is the reason for picking up a player off waivers of a team you are about to play (when you already have some good WR's)......<Sarcasm off>

Teams do this all the time.....just to get a little insight into what the teams have been running (playbooks etc).
