Before landing running back Trent Richardson in a blockbuster trade last week, the Indianapolis Colts inquired about several other options, including Detroit Lions tailback Mikel Leshoure, according to a CBS Sports report.

While it's not surprising the Colts checked on the availability of Leshoure, given their need at tailback prior to acquiring Richardson, CBS is reporting Detroit quickly rebuffed the Colts' overtures.

There was no additional reasoning provided as to why the Lions weren't keen about exploring a swap, but given Leshoure's value right now, it's entirely possible Detroit didn't want to sell low, getting pennies on the dollar for their 2011 second-round pick.

Also, Detroit was aware of Reggie Bush's status as the Richardson deal came together. Trading Leshoure while the team's top tailback was nursing a knee injury would have left the Lions dangerously thin at running back heading into Sunday's contest against the Redskins.
