The Indianapolis Colts have lost tight end Dwayne Allen to season-ending hip surgery, Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports. “It just makes you sick,’’ coach Chuck Pagano said. Allen suffered the injury in the season-opener against the Oakland Raiders. He was held out of the Miami game. “We were all hoping that it would be something that with time and with rest he would come around,’’ Pagano said. “He’s a tough, tough, tough kid. “But once we got the thing evaluated and saw what the doctors saw in there and what needed to be done . . . for the long term, it’s what needed to be done at this time.’’ Allen, the 2012 third-round pick, had 45 receptions last season, a club record for a rookie tight end. The loss of Allen means a heavier workload for Coby Fleener. Source:Author, Source
