Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was guarded when asked if he was optimistic his veteran quarterback might return this season according to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star. "With these things, you never know the time frame," Irsay said after the Manning-less Colts were routed 34-7 by the Houston Texans. "There's a broad range of two to six months." Manning underwent cervical fusion surgery Thursday and remains on the active roster. But for how long? "There are restraints on the roster when you start getting a lot of guys banged up," Irsay said. "You take it a week at a time and in a three-month period he may be really getting down the road to being able to practice." "In terms of Peyton Manning playing football," he said, "he's going to play for the Colts, that's for sure."
