Colts Pleased With LB Pat Angerer In His First Start Vs. Redskins

  1. Rookie LB Pat Angerer was drafted in the second round to be the heir apparent to defensive captain Gary Brackett. But with Brackett showing few signs of slowing down — he was rewarded with a five-year contract extension in March — Angerer must make the most of his opportunities. In Week Six against the Redskins, with Brackett inactive because of groin injury, Angerer made his first NFL start and received very high marks from his predecessor. The 6-0, 235-pounder was very active, recording 11 tackles, a sack and two passes defensed, but Pro Football Weekly's sources say that what impressed Brackett the most about the rookie was his ability to call the plays and make sure his teammates were all in the right spots — a job that Brackett admits he still struggles with on occasion. Angerer was his own biggest critic following the game, saying there is plenty of room for improvement, but Pro Football Weekly hears the club was very pleased with his debut.

You gotta love the name for a linebacker. Kind of undersized, but that never bothers the Colts.
