Colts Preparing For QB Kerry Collins To Start Week 1 Vs. Texans?

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter predicted on SportsCenter Friday that Kerry Collins would be the Colts' Week 1 starting quarterback. "They're going as if Kerry Collins is going to be the starter," said Schefter. "That's the feeling in the organization." Schefter appears to be referring the early season only; the Colts wouldn't have removed Peyton Manning from the PUP list if they expected him to sit out the entire year. We'll know more when the Colts begin Week 1 preparations next week, but for now it looks like Collins is in the driver's seat to start against the Texans. It would be a major early-season blow to all of Indianapolis' pass catchers.

If the Colts opened on Thursday night......I would lean towards Collins starting.

But you never know with No. 18........

 

What if they start Manning and then pull him after a few passes?

 

I can't see Manning doing that...

 

No way Manning would do that. He has way too much respect for the game and his teammates to do anything like that.

 

Manning said he won't play unless he knows he can contribute.

 

Brett Favre himself refused to do that......no way Manning even ponders that thought.

 

Maybe Collins will do here what he did back with the Titans.

 

I don't think handing the ball to Johnson is an option
