Logan Mankins isn’t the only player who scored a $20 million signing bonus. That’s the amount Peyton Manning received to put his name on the dotted line for the Indianapolis Colts, that’s what Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports as he breaks down the deal the quarterback received to avoid the franchise tag this season. Per the report, the deal also includes a $28 million option bonus and a $3 million roster bonus in 2011 that allow the Colts to gradually increase the cap number Manning will have. With a $3.4 million base salary this season, Manning will count $16 million vs. the cap in 2011. His base salary is $7.4 million in 2012, $8.4 million in 2013, $9.4 million in 2014 and $10.4 million in 2015. The $90 million, five-year contract enabled the Colts to have more freedom for player movement.
