Defensive end Marcus Howard was one of the players waived as the Indianapolis Colts continued to work toward paring their roster to the limit of 53 by 6 p.m. today. The release of Howard comes as a bit of surprise. He was a fifth-round draft pick last season who appeared in nine games and produced 1 1/2 sacks and three quarterback pressures.
