A rookie Indianapolis Colts player was arrested early Monday on preliminary charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement after an altercation with police that began when he was not allowed into a Downtown bar. John Boyett, 23, who gave police an address in Napa Valley, Calif., was being held today at the Marion County Jail, according to online jail records. A police report said Boyett — a safety listed as being on the reserve/non-football injury list — suffered slight new injuries to his arm and elbow when he fell while running from police officers after an incident shortly before 3 a.m. “You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player,†Boyett repeatedly told the officers, according to the report that described his behavior as “very abusive.†The report said Boyett later threatened an officer, saying “I am going to come back and break your jaw.†He also made fun of an officer’s hair and nose, the report said.
