Missed the first half, Crowned saved me in the second with a stream, so here is my slightly uneven take - Romo had a great game. Struggled early, but was sticking daggers in TB's heart the second half. Re Watch the Crayton TD, that was all Romo - We could have a very good ensemble type WR crew. Crayton isnt worthless if he isnt relied on soley as a #2. Austin may not catch mor than 30-40 balls this year, but he will be respect by defences. We didnt throw to Marty B much. but he was motioning wide to the outside. Witten was solid, and RW came thru when we needed him. As a #1 Owens kinda spoiled us -Barber looked great today. Ive been impin Tashard as the feature all offseason. I could be wrong. -Buehler is gonna pay huge dividends - Defence was terrible, but this is essentially the same unit we had last year. It will get better. We got good pressure, but it was always a little late. Sensibaugh looks like a steal however - Offensive line looked great
the offense was super the defense needs to tighten it up a bit. The Bucs o-line kinda pushed the boys d-line off the ball while Cadillac williams found gaping holes.
Byron Leftwich killed us.. and that's Byron Leftwich, who isn't a horrible QB, but he's no Peyton Manning... that scares me. We were lucky there were a LOT of drops. We did have pressure almost every play. Romo had a LOT of trouble finding the open man, despite his stats. I saw this game live and at least 7 times I or inclulbu5 were screaming that Romo missed someone being wide open, mainly Roy Williams or Martellus Bennett. The run d, as you know, wasn't impressive.. Martellus Bennett came off as lost a lot. He seemed confused and wasn't looking very good in person. That timeout in I believe it was the first quarter was his fault. It seemed like he split out wide and Witten was supposed to, so everybody was confused. If all games go how they did today, obviously we are going to be a second half team. We played leaps and bounds better after half time, in my opinion. Roy Williams WAS getting open a lot. As stated earlier, he got missed quite a few times. That's good news, that he was getting open.
The Offense line looked good at first and then had some bad plays and then came back to finish strong. I know this might sound a little stupid since we did have three long pass plays but I do not think we are going to be a big play type of offense. Those plays seem to be more from blown coverage than design. That being said I think we can chew up 10 yards a play with easy and from a lot of different ways. MB3 looks a little quicker but just does not seem to run the same the way he did 2 years ago. We ran the wildcat, which I am not a big fan of, with Choice. I would have liked Choice to get in the game more than he did. On defense while they never got a sack on Leftwich they were able to hit him and knock him down a lot and you could tell that was wearing on him. The Buccs do have one of the better O-Lines so I am not surprised that they were able to protect him and run the ball so well. Not all of the Buccs running success was because of the O-Line, Dallas did not tackle a lot if any during camp and it showed. I think our run defense will get better as the season goes on.
the defense worried me bc of the lack of tackling and sacks although as manster said they were hitting Leftwich alot. seems tlike they need to get the timing correct to be able to get to the qb. seems like the WR were making alot of catches and we had too much miscommunication in the dbs
As mentioned previously, the run defense is crappy right now. I think the long plays we had won't be indicative of things to come unfortunately. I would like to see more long sustained drives. I came into this season with a big lack of confidence about how we'll do, so I'm not getting overly excited about 1 good half of football. Some very good points in this thread though.
