Cowboys starting center Phil Costa was carted off the field late in the second quarter Sunday at Carolina and left the locker room on crutches. Costa dislocated his right ankle trying to tackle Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly, who was returning a lost fumble by Cowboys receiver Miles Austin. Costa jerked his body from side to side, reacting to the pain on the field. With athletic trainers around Costa, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett came across the field to grab Costa’s hand and pat him on the chest. After the game, Costa had a bulky brace on hiss lower right leg and a Cowboys official had to help Costa put on his dress pants in the locker room. “He subluxed his ankle, which kind of rolls it,†Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of Costa’s injury. “You think of a subluxed shoulder, in and out [of the socket]. It could be something that we look at hard, maybe a severe sprain. It’s not a high ankle sprain, so I’m not ruling him out at all for anything and that’s about all I know about him.†Source: Dallas Morning News
