Cowboys cornerback Micah Pellerin has been issued a fine of $15,750 by the NFL for delivering a helmet-to-helmet hit on the Arizona Cardinals’ receiver Charles Hawkins at the end of a fourth quarter punt return. Pellerin was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play.

Of course, as a roster hopeful, there’s a chance Pellerin might not have to pay the fine for awhile, if at all. As Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas notes, the Hampton product will only have to pay the fine if he makes the team, in which case he’d make a little over $400,000 this year.

If Pellerin doesn’t make the team, he won’t have to pay, at least not until he signs with another team.
