The Cowboys are in discussions with Dan Connor about a new contract that would allow him to stay with the team, multiple sources confirmed Tuesday. This off-season, management had asked Connor, a reserve linebacker, to take a pay cut so the Cowboys could clear room under the NFL’s $123 million salary cap. Connor’s 2013 cap number is $4.35 million and his base salary is $3 million. Connor, 27, signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract with the Cowboys last March after spending the previous four seasons with Carolina. In 2012, Connor made 56 tackles and started eight games after Sean Lee suffered a season-ending toe injury last October. Source: Dallas Morning News
