The Cowboys' $1.1 billion stadium will be called Cowboys Stadium, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News. Jones had been trying to find a corporate sponsor for the new stadium -- a report last summer in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram had AT&T as the frontrunner -- but the recent financial problems of that company and others halted those plans. "Texas Stadium, we certainly have a deep embedded vision of what it is and, at some point we will say, was," Jones said. "But we'd like to keep it at that. It's certainly fitting when looking at the tradition of the Cowboys for it to be Cowboys Stadium. It sounds obvious and simplistic, but it's right." Source: Calvin Watkins, NFLFanhouse
I Like it. I'm glad we didn't go with corporate, that means it won't change every 2-3 years like most stadiums do.
In other words, no one was interested in shelling out billions on having their name plastered over a stadium that will forever be associated with failure.
its to be expected. Companies are in too much finacial trouble to be selling out pointless advertising dollars right now
Creative...lol. I like the fact that it will be called Cowboys Stadium...however, it's not for the right reasons. They couldn't find a sponsor to hand over the amount of jack they were looking for.
^ this. I hate corporate naming on the stadiums, but it is what it is. It's won't be Cowboys stadium forever. There is just too much money to be gained.
I do not care for the corporate name. Ravens stadium used to be named PSI.net. Now it is called M&T Bank Stadium. Why would you name a Bank....Empty.
well considering the fins are now what landshark stadium, its not like they named it "indian stadium"
Like the old one, I will call it craphole too :icon_cheesygrin: k serious... Cowboys Stadium isn't very original. I like something like Tom Landry Stadium, as somebody mentioned before
Tom Landry Stadium would of been perfect, but like it was stated earlier, JJ would never name his stadium that, He is to self absorb.
That building is HUGE!! They showed some more pictures of it on the Kentucky Derby when Costas was talking to Jerry. WOW!
It is huge, I wouldnt be surprised if JJ tried making it into its own country where he doesnt have to abied by US regulations. :icon_cheesygrin:
